1. Walt Disney Animation Studios - Zootopia 2 Effects Animation
All shots created in Houdini and rendered with Hyperion. Every effect — no matter how subtle — required careful art direction to either emphasize the film’s stylized, cartoon realism or recede in support of character performance. Timing, shape, and caricature were critical in delivering the intended comedic impact. I contributed a wide range of effects across the show, with a focus on magic, snow, and smoke. I also executed effects spanning multiple shots in a sequence, requiring attention to continuity and fast iteration.
2. Walt Disney Animation Studios - Effects Apprenticeship
All shots created in Houdini and rendered with Hyperion. The apprenticeship consisted of three projects of increasing complexity, where I was responsible for all effects, lighting, and rendering. Each project deepened my understanding of feature-level effects and strengthened both my technical and artistic decision-making. Working closely with mentors, I received ongoing critique and guidance that accelerated my growth in both fundamentals and storytelling through effects.
3. Jello Party - Personal Project
All aspects created in Houdini and rendered with Solaris/Karma XPU using a USD workflow. I wanted to challenge myself not only to create the softbody effects, but to procedurally model the jellos and dishware as well. I used this project as an opportunity to push stylization — exaggerating motion and timing to create a more dramatic and comedic moment.
4. Bubble Landscape - Personal Project
All aspects were created in Houdini and rendered with Solaris/Karma XPU using a USD workflow. An exploration in building an art-directable Vellum rig. I developed a system to paint bubble emergence paths and adjust timing post-simulation, allowing for more controlled and expressive animation.
5. Egg Run - Personal Project
All effects elements were created in Houdini and rendered with Solaris/Karma XPU using a USD workflow. The track texture and male character model were externally sourced. This silly project explores rigid body constraints and viscous fluid simulation. It involved closely studying the physical behavior of eggshells and yolk to ground the motion in believable dynamics.
